I have dived all over the world and am looking forward to getting a lot of dives under my belt in Scottish waters. My main diving interests are wrecks but am looking forward to doing my Dive Leader training and possibly going down the instructor route to get more people into this enjoyable and friendly sport.

Colin Macdonald
Colin learnt to dive in sunnier climes, so his DSAC winter activities are limited to diving into pints, but he's determined to make the most of our country's glorious summer to get more Scottish dives clocked up.

Derek Small
Derek is currently our DO (6th year) and has previously held just about every position on the committee (not all at the same time). Derek also has a great love for our boat, especially now that it's new and shiny.

I have always been interested in nature and the reason I joined BSAC was to allow me to gain the skills required for visiting different underwater habitats to examine all the wildlife you normally can't see or only used to seeing on a plate in a restaurant. Now that I am a research biologist by trade, diving will allow me to combine my interest in nature with a hobbie where you can overcome new challenges. I have enjoyed the training experience, meeting other members of the club and hope I can repay the time and effort spent training us by helping others in the future.

Most people who have seen me dive will agree that I am a natural - infact I come from a long line of semi aquatic highland otter people. This is a recent picture of my cousin Donald laughing at my entry technique!

Graham Wells
Graham Wells (pictured bottom left) joined DSAC in 1998; however Graham is in fact the oldest member of DSAC and been diving since 1947. Graham was resident instructor on the MV Calypso where he taught the young whipper snapper, Jacques Cousteau to dive. "Times were difficult after the war, ya ken - me an jackie were hard as f**k in those days - not like yous poofs today."
Graham is in charge of all training in DSAC.

Jacob Thastrup
Jacob has been a diver for several years however only recently turned from the “dark side” to become a coldwater BSAC diver. He really likes taking pictures under water which means he often does not move more than 10 feet during a full dive as he is busy getting things in frame.
Jacob was also bullied (by Sarah) into becoming DSAC’s communications officer and Tayside Area Coach.

I have been diving for a few years when abroad on holidays. After spending a few weeks with a marine conservation group last year I decided to continue diving back here in Scotland.

Started late into diving and I’m really enjoying it, even Loch Fyne in early February. Working offshore, so I’m available to dive mid week as well as weekends, when I’m on leave. Particularly love diving on the west coast and anywhere warm.

Sarah loves being u/w in in way she can. She really enjoyed instructing especially new divers or helping make new instructors. She hope to keep pushing her own boundaries and experience even more of the u/w world. She is also the North Scotland regional coach.

Stewart Maxwell
Member of BSAC since 1984. Trained with Dundee SAC (wetsuit days). Also spent some time with Kirkcaldy SAC (Chair) before returning to Dundee. Have dived world wide but enjoy UK waters the best. Really enjoy wrecks like the Breda and the tay snorkels. Despite being a fully paid up member of the SAGA I still manage to turn out occasionally. Enjoy helping novice divers gain confidence as diving is supposed to be fun! If anyone happens to find a set of VW car keys at the bottom of the Tay let me know!

Tom Bryce
Tom has been diving with DSAC for almost 10 years. When he joined, he was young man with energy, enthusiasm and a career in corporate change management; he is now older, wiser, balder, fatter and slightly long sighted. His 'made to measure' drysuit now perfectly fits the fine body he used to have in his youth. Tom has been Chairman of DSAC for over 5 years where his role is to tread the political fine line between baying factions and encourage others to do more work than he does.
